New prints with Louis Buhl
Louis Buhl & Co. is pleased to present a new screenprint edition by artist Cody Hudson, titled Time and Space (Seeds and Cuttings). For the project, Hudson presents a regular edition, alongside a handful of unique variants to which he hand-painted different elements. Hudson’s use of graphic lines and bright color inspire a story of longing and hope, while also finding context within contemporary abstract painting. The artist is interested in the elemental use of shape as a signifier, but goes further by allowing the forms to be direct extensions of the painting’s poetic content.

Time and Space (Seeds and Cuttings) – Hand-Painted Variants
1-color hand-pulled screenprint on Rives BFK. Hand-embellished with acrylic paint. Deckled, numbered and signed by artist
36h x 24w inches
1/1
In Time and Space (Seeds and Cuttings), Hudson extracts elements from the natural world and reimagines them into simplified geometric shapes that work together to form a harmoniously expressive composition. Leaving off a portion of the composition during the process of printing, Hudson hand-paints the missing elements to complete each print. Through this process, the artist was able to observe how a shift in color or shape is able to alter the feel of a piece and tell a different story. The result is a series of works that, at times, feel similar, but also very different; as you analyze the variations, each one begins to take on a life of its own.

Air Summit Workshop
Photos and poster mockups from the recent Air Summit workshop we did at my studio with Nike Chicago and the crew from the Blue Ribbon Studio in Beaverton. The project started with Al from BRS showing me the different air bags from Air Max shoes over the years. I used those as the inspiration for a batch of shape based graphics.
We did 2 workshops on the day of the Air Max Air Summit in Chicago with the first workshop having people use vinyl, puff and reflective transfers of the shape and graphics to make custom T Shirts and another workshop where people made mono prints using large stamps based on the same graphic kit.
Much thanks to Olu (who I have been on this Air Council project with the last few months) and to Al, Aja and Jamie from BRS who made the trek in and to all the Nike Chicago and Limitless crew for making it happen. Also thanks to everyone who came out to make stuff and really blew me away with what they did and how they remixed this simple shape set we started with.

Literally Outside
I met Steffan Williams over instagram and we ended up talking a bit on the phone about living here, being dads and being outside. I was excited to work on some graphics for his brand @literallyoutside. Did a long sleeve 100% organic cotton grown, sewn, and printed in the USA T shirt as well as a short sleeve, hat and tote bag.
Founded in 2021 by cousins Steffan Williams and Taylor Williams, Literally Outside is one of the very few Black-owned outdoor lifestyle companies in the US. They want to promote diversity and inclusion by challenging outdated stereotypes of outdoor activities and outdoor apparel.
Nike Air Council Campus Trip
Recently had the opportunity to visit the Nike world HQ in Beaverton, OR with the crew from the Nike Chicago Air Council program (Gracis Koh, Oluwaseyi Adeleke, James Langford, Benjamin Edgar Gott, Steven “Tuck” Tucker, D’Wayne Edwards, Diana Almanza and Azeeza Khan). Got to spend some time behind the scenes in some of the design labs, met some designers and thinkers behind the brand and even ran around a track a few times (my hip still hurts). Big thanks to Nike Chicago for inviting me to be a part of this project.
