Refueled The One Series with Lyndon french
I met Chris Brown when he was doing an artist residency at Camp Wandawega in WI. We get some friends together and hit up the Duck Inn supper club for some drinks and walleye cheeks and talked for a few hours. Chris is an artist, publisher and all around interesting character so I was excited when he later asked me if I would want to be a part of his Refueled Magazine One Series. The One Series is a smaller scale publication that focuses on one single subject, photographer, craftsman or artist per issue. Past issues have included good folks like Evan Hecox, Jason lee, Stewart Easton and more.
Since I had another book of more formal photos of finished work being published when we first talked, we thought it would be nice to make this one more about behind the scenes and work in progress photos. Friend / photographer Lyndon French had been shooting with me a lot in the past few years so seemed like a perfect opportunity to collaborate with him and make a book of his photos shot between my studios in Chicago and Wisconsin. This 6x9 publication is 110 pages of those photos with some thoughts from Chris and a few notes from me. Available now HERE.

Peace Pot Plant Playlist
Made a playlist of music inspired by plants, rocks, and my drawings currently at Public Land. All very mellow music that pairs nicely with a cup of tea and some burning Nag Champa (or Kumba International “Obama” if you are fancy). Also best listened to first thing in the AM or at night before bed (and not on shuffle). Link to the mix HERE ☮️
Lula Cafe x Cody Hudson
Lula is thrilled to announce the launch of a poster series featuring artists who have shown in the cafe’s 24 year history. These limited-edition screen prints, created exclusively for Lula, will celebrate the restaurant's curated art program while also supporting a cause important to many in our restaurant community.
For years, Lula Cafe has hosted quarterly exhibitions curated by Anders Nilsen, Marianne Fairbanks, and Melina Ausikaitis, artists of note in their own right, that have left an indelible mark on the local art scene. Lula has always been committed to fostering creativity and providing a platform for emerging and established artists alike. In fact, the President of the Art Institute of Chicago supposedly once said Lula was "one of the best places to see new art in the city."
In an effort to support important members of its community, Lula Cafe is launching this limited-edition poster series, with proceeds from the sale benefiting The Resurrection Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Chicago communities through initiatives that foster growth and inclusivity. This year, the focus of the fundraiser will be on providing assistance and opportunities to DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients.
The inaugural artist featured in this exclusive series is Chicago’s own Cody Hudson, renowned for his arrestingly bold and abstract paintings, illustrations, and sculpture. The limited run of 75 Cody Hudson screen prints will be hand-numbered and signed by the artist.
Lula Cafe remains committed to fostering art, culture, and community in Chicago, and this initiative reaffirms its dedication to supporting local artists and making a positive impact on the city.
The print is available HERE.
